PARALLEL SHAFT GEARBOXES
Allen Gears Mechanical Drive, Turbo Gear and Marine Propulsion Parallel Shaft units have been specifically developed to meet the ever increasing demands placed on them by increased input powers and speeds by building on over 60 years of power gearing experience.
Allen Gears parallel shaft units are specifically engineered to suit the required application through close cooperation with the customer and an understanding of the application requirements.
Our parallel shaft units are used in applications within the oil and gas industries, industrial power generation and hydro power generation. Driving and driven machinery includes diesel engines, electric motors, gas turbines, steam turbines, hydro turbines, pumps, compressors, propellers and fans
Our modular design approach allows Allen Gears parallel shaft units to be flexible to the customers needs allowing centre distances and centre heights to be engineered in line with the customers needs without impacting on the design integrity or use of proven technology and constructions.
Allen Gears parallel shafts are available with either horizontal, vertical or a combination of shaft offsets. Other design features that are available are:
- Integrated quill shafts to enable elimination of flexible couplings.
- Lubrication Pump, Fuel Pump etc. PTO drives
- Starter drive PTI’s
- Integrated Barring Drive Gear
- Full Instrumentation Packages for Condition Monitoring (API Compliant)
MANUFACTURED TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS
Our gearboxes can be provided in accordance with all the recognised international gear standards such as API 613 5th Edition, AGMA, ISO, DIN, BSI, Lloyds and more.
Ensuring a quality and reliable transmission relies on having a full understanding of the application and its operating characteristics. Allen Gears pay careful attention to ensure application specific loadings and operating criteria are clearly understood and engineered into the product. Full rotordynamic analyses are performed to ensure that high integrity dynamic performance is provided in the application and also on the test stand.
HIGH SPEEDS, HIGH LOADS AND LONG LIFE
Dependant on the application our gears are produced as double or single helical and incorporate state of the art bearing technology to allow the high loads and speeds demanded of today’s applications to be accommodated.
We have over 1000 parallel shaft gears in service with operating powers ranging from 0.5MW up to 45MW with input speeds up to 45,000 rpm. All of our gear units are designed for continuous operation with a minimum design life of 100,000 hours as standard. This ensures that we consistently provide a highly reliable, technically superior product
